How to Upload and Activate a Plugin Zip File in WordPress

In my previous post, I showed you how to search for, and install plugins from the official WordPress.org plugin repository. In this post, I’ll show you how to upload and activate a plugin .zip file.

Why You Might Need to Upload a Plugin Zip File

There are thousands of freely available plugins hosted on the plugin repository, which you can search for and install right from within your WordPress Dashboard. However, there are also thousands of premium plugins that can be purchased elsewhere.

When you purchase a premium plugin (or theme), you’re likely purchasing from the plugin developer’s own website (like FooPlugins.com) or from a marketplace like CodeCanyon.

After purchasing, you then download the plugin, which is a .zip file.
